Prof. Patrick Maluki holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict studies and is an experienced trainer and researcher in Diplomacy, International conflict Management, International Negotiation, International Mediation, International Political economy, human rights and governance, and peace building issues. He is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi. He is also the Chairman of the Council for the Foreign Service Academy, and the Chair of the Diplomacy Scholars Association of Kenya.  He has over 20-year training experience in Diplomatic Negotiation and International Mediation at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies and the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC). He is an accomplished researcher and consultant and has published extensively. His books include Peace Building Strategies and Sustainable Peace in Rwanda and Burundi; Regionalism in the Indian Ocean: Order, Cooperation and Community; Combating new Piracy in the Indian Ocean; Role of Parliament in Peacebuilding, and Communication Strategies in Disaster Management. He is the Executive Chairman of the Poverty Eradication and Community Empowerment (PEACE) NGO. He is the Director and founder of the Africa Centre for the study of the United States of America, the Africa Centre for the study of China, Centre for Pan Africa and Diaspora studies, Centre for Climate change Diplomacy and Peace and Centre for Counter terrorism and violent extremism of the university of Nairobi.
